Questions you might have about Black holes ? | Part-1

BLACK HOLE

First, let's talk about what is a black hole?. A Black hole is an astronomical object with gravitational pull so strong that not even light can escape through it. A black hole's " surface " , called it's EVENT HORIZON , defines the boundary where velocity needed to escape the speed limit of light ( which is also the speed limit of cosmos ). Any matter and radiation can fall in it but they can't get out.

  • How are black holes formed ?

This part is little dramatic and sketchy. A black hole can be formed by the death of a massive star. When such star consists of Hydrogen atoms, it fuses togather to form Helium atoms, it gives out energy  and also increases the mass of the star. This process is known as NUCLEAR FUSION. Then helium fuses and forms Carbon, this process goes on and at the end the core forms Iron which is a very heavy element.

Now, core cannot fuse iron and due to this nuclear fusion stops and star becomes unstable. Due to this, the Gravity of the core becomes too high and star starts collapsing in itself and starts absorbing a lot of gas around it, results in an explosion called SUPERNOVA explosion.

After the explosion, only thing left is the Black hole. Black hole compresses millions and millions kilograms of mass at one point known as SINGULARITY.

  • What is Singularity ?

The Singularity at the centre of black hole is a place where matter is compressed down to an indefinitely tiny point and all the conceptions of time and space completely breaks down.

  • How many types of Black holes are there ?

There are four types of Black holes. 1.Stellar 2. Intermediate 3. Super-massive  4. Miniature

  • REAL IMAGE OF BLACK HOLE

Yes, this is the real image of a Supermassive black hole. It portrayed M87*, the supermassive black hole at the centre of the M87 galaxy, some 17 megaparsecs (55 million light years) away. The researchers constructed the picture by combining radio-frequency signals they had collected from observatories across Earth over two nights in April 2017.

  • Conclusion

In the next blog i will explain the four types of black holes and will discuss some crazy questions like : How many black holes are there in our milky way galaxy ? , What happens inside the black hole ? , Does black hole have an opening ?...etc.

If you guys want to discuss any other questions, please let me know in the comment section.

What do you guys think would happen if  a Black hole hits the Earth ?
