What is Time dilation ?

 Time dilation

Let's talk about this crazy concept today. In physics and relativity , Time dilation is the difference in the elapsed time as measured by two clocks. It is either due to a relative velocity between them or by difference in gravitational potential between their locations.

Suppose it's a very beautiful summer day , like today and let's say you decided to go to the train track and watch the trains go by! So you sat down on a bench with a clock.

Now , it turns out that according to two postulates of special relativity ( get ready for it ) you sitting on a track will observe any clock on the train to tick slower than your clock. This effect - that moving clocks run slow - is known as Time dilation.

For example , say you dozed off on the bench for 3 hours. However the moving clock - the clock on the train - will register a shorter amount of time, because it's ticking slower for you. And , in fact , faster the train moves , the slower that clocks will tick on the train.

So , your clock may say that you've been sleeping for 3 hours , a clock in the train may say that you've only been sleeping for 2 hours or 1 hour depending on the speed of the train. There are mainly two types of time dilation

1. Time dilation caused by relative velocity.

2. Time dilation caused by Gravity.

Time dilation caused by relative velocity.

Special relativity indicates that, for an observer in an inertial frame of reference, a clock that is moving relative to them will be measured to tick slower than a clock that is at rest in their frame of reference. This case is sometimes called special relativistic time dilation. The faster the relative velocity, the greater the time dilation between one another, with time slowing to a stop as one approaches the speed of light (299,792,458 m/s).

Time dilation caused by Gravity.

Gravitational time dilation is experienced by an observer that, at a certain altitude within a gravitational potential well , finds that their local clocks measure less elapsed time than identical clocks situated at higher altitude (and which are therefore at higher gravitational potential).

Facts :

  1. Time nearly stops or is frozen when you travel with the speed of light.

  2. Time near the black hole gets extremely slow than on our earth.

Conclusion :

These theories are proven by many scientists.

So, what do you guys think about many other cazy concepts like this ? Do you think it's a myth ?
